Travel Journal
- An anchor of pause: a quiet space inside a loud, overloaded world
- Room to process: pages with no judgment on them, where you can put things down and look at them
- Grounding through material: from sewing and binding to the touch of paint and paper
- Past the inner critic: image and writing together loosen what holds expression back
- A hand-bound, hand-sewn notebook that stays with you
Format:
A travel journal is a private space of our own, one that goes with us wherever we go. It makes room for real time with ourselves: a space to meet whatever is here right now, and to give room to sensation, to feeling, and to imagination. A space to tell our own particular story.
For many people a visual journal becomes a real anchor, and there are endless ways to work with one.
What we'll do in the workshop:
- Making the notebook by hand: we build the body of the journal from scratch, learning to bind it, to sew the pages by hand, and bringing botanical printing into the cover.
- Filling it: I'll give you the basic tools and prompts that get you moving. We'll practice putting content on the page together, using watercolor, collage, drawing and writing.
And most of all, finding our own story in it.
Come and see what your travel journal will look like.
